SNÆFELLSNES VESSEL
Sand infused hand-blown glass
Artist Statement
This vessel was inspired from the volcanic Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland. The inspiration comes from the beautiful unique land formations of the peninsula and the significance in literature. This is the location where in Jules Verne's 'To the journey center of the Earth' the main characters go inside the glacier to discover a mysterious lost world. The vessel is in smoky colour to represent the inactive volcano and is combined with obsidian sand (naturally occuring glass in gravel).
This vessel has been exhibited at Hub Under 35 at Italian Glass Weeks in Venice, 2022.
